Aventurine is a form of quartz, deriving its name from Italian for “by chance.” In the 18th century, a glassmaker on Murano accidentally created what we call Goldstone today. It looks similar to aventurine, so the name eventually graduated from the man-made material to this beauty of a naturally-occurring stone. Because of course!
